Yesterday Firefox stopped playing audio files. If I play a video, I can see the picture, but there's no sound.
Speakertest runs fine. I can hear audio with other appications, e.g., Microsoft Edge.
I tried downgrading Firefox to 115.15.0, but that didn't help.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks! _________________ David Bryant

Well, I got my sound working again. I installed the firefox-bin package, and that enabled a sound card selection dialog in "Configure Audio Devices" from the system tray. I have two soiund cards, but only one of them is working correctly. Here's some terminal output.
Code: | localhost ~ # lspci -s 00:1f.3 -k
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH HD Audio
DeviceName: Onboard - Sound
Subsystem: Dell Device 0859
Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel
localhost ~ # lspci -s 01:00.1 -k
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation TU106 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)
Subsystem: Dell Device 3759
Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel |
So now I'm wondering how I can get both sound sources working. I imagine the problem is caused by assigning the same driver to two devices, but I'm not certain of that. Or how to fix it. _________________ David Bryant
