Hi,

I have built a new Gentoo system with my Gentoo Server's Kernel which support the nvidia GPU stablely, the nvidia GPU performs well on this device currently. The repeated issues reported by `dmesg` is

Code:
[34447.288763] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to probe lspcon
[34447.288766] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* LSPCON init failed on port D
[34447.941003] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to probe lspcon
[34447.941005] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* LSPCON init failed on port D
[34474.168931] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to probe lspcon
[34474.168934] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* LSPCON init failed on port D
[34474.820897] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to probe lspcon
[34474.820898] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* LSPCON init failed on port D
[34500.408721] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to probe lspcon
[34500.408724] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* LSPCON init failed on port D
[34501.060076] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to probe lspcon
[34501.060079] i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* LSPCON init failed on port D

I have not found the obvious config in gentoo kernel option in

Code:
zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_DRM_I915
CONFIG_DRM_I915=m
CONFIG_DRM_I915_FORCE_PROBE=""
CONFIG_DRM_I915_CAPTURE_ERROR=y
CONFIG_DRM_I915_COMPRESS_ERROR=y
CONFIG_DRM_I915_USERPTR=y
CONFIG_DRM_I915_GVT_KVMGT=m
CONFIG_DRM_I915_REQUEST_TIMEOUT=20000
CONFIG_DRM_I915_FENCE_TIMEOUT=10000
CONFIG_DRM_I915_USERFAULT_AUTOSUSPEND=250
CONFIG_DRM_I915_HEARTBEAT_INTERVAL=2500
CONFIG_DRM_I915_PREEMPT_TIMEOUT=640
CONFIG_DRM_I915_MAX_REQUEST_BUSYWAIT=8000
CONFIG_DRM_I915_STOP_TIMEOUT=100
CONFIG_DRM_I915_TIMESLICE_DURATION=1
CONFIG_DRM_I915_GVT=y

I have not found something associated with lspcon directly in Gentoo kernel.

Please give me some useful advice

saito

I am reading related discussion a year ago https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/i915/kernel/-/issues/7689.

If you are experienced similar issues, please discuss with me.

Thanks

Hi - how do we go about addressing this error? I have an Intel UHD 630 and Nvidia RTX 3000. This is littering my dmesg output and I'm wondering if I can resolve it.

You can't at the moment.
See: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/i915/kernel/-/issues/4458

Oh ok, so in your best estimation, this is also causing that freezing in wayland where sometimes kitty won't close even though it appears the terminal is about ready to close or when I first edit a file in kitty via micro, it sometimes presses whatever key combination I entered endlessly?
