Howdy. I know many users experience slow dev-lang/rust compile times, and often just reach for rust-bin. Totally makes sense to do that. But, I'm curious why building rust it it apparently ignores MAKEOPTS job parameters, and drops to using only one core, or even less? Is this just an unavoidable feature of building Rust from source code that its build just cannot be fully parallelized? (I think GCC does shows similar behavior.)
Thanks for the considered and kind replies. _________________

I also occasionally see this behavior -- there's something in the build that's causing this. However most of the times I do see it using more than one core, and usually a lot of cores. You might see some strange behavior with distcc however. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD
