|

Hi,
I have like many others (found on redit). The problem is that kwin_wayland takes lot of CPU doing nothing.
For me it's 25% of a core on a Ryzen 5900X.
Sometimes after a reboot it's solved, but I can restart several time and have the bug.
I red it's about xwayland doing wrong stuff.
No time to investigate this, but I think I will stop wayland and go back to X11 in near future.
I like wayland for the speed, but this bug is a problem.
So if anyone has a solution... Or maybe a new version of plasma 6 will fix it.
I am up-to date
Plasma 6.1.5
KDE Framework 6.6.0
Kernel 6.6.52

please https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Wgetpaste your users .local/share/sddm/wayland-session.log
it smells like a Nvidia issue or are you using iGPU ?

It's a desktop PC, Ryzen 5900X, nVidia RTX 3090, 64GB memory, no other GPU

Found a fix ... I did update to nVidia driver 560.35 because I am developing NVML application and wanted to have the last version.
I reverted back to the Gentoo version 550 and the bug is gone.
kwin_wayland using 25% of a core was present as soon as I started Thunderbird and would disappear around 30% of the time by closing Thunderbird. But Thunderbird was not the only one to exhibit this problem. |
