Hi Experts, I am facing issues while upgrade gcc to 11.5.0 from 9.3.0. I am getting something like make: *** [Makefile:24884: bootstrap-lean] Error 2, and then it fails.

please suggest how to get over this . Thanks in advance for all your help in advance.

I'm no expert but reading those 34 news you continue ignoring might be a good start.

The log is showing a build of gcc 13.3.1_p20240614, which is the current stable version.

To get gcc 11.5.0 (why?), you need to ask for it explicitly:
Code:
# emerge =sys-devel/gcc-11.5.0

But that's probably going to have issues as well given the length of time since the PC was last updated, 3+ years?

Posting the output of
Code:
# emerge --info
would answer a lot of questions.

Hi finoderi, I read them after you pointed, but nothing relevant to the error we are facing

Here is the requested o.p WJB - JFYI - I even tried both gcc-11.5 and 13.3, both failing -
