This is just for the benefit of people who may run into the error message "EPYTHON is null". I ran into this yesterday, and again this morning. I read the bug report, which said the problem had been fixed. But I was still seeing the error. I reran "emerge --sync", and that fixed the problem

The fix for dev-util/smem-1.5-r3 fails to compile: No Python implementation set (EPYTHON is null) appears to be very recent (AuthorDate: 2024-11-03 00:12:32 +0000), so it is likely that your previous sync was too old to have received it.
