CHOSTs are like this --
x86_64-<string>-linux-gnu
For some reason, I need to change the <string> from pc to something else.

My question is, is this officially supported by Gentoo? Even though an article exists.

Your "article" link may be wrong, it point back to same as "some" forum post.

I have few questions about the "some" thread, so I will discuss over there.

The wiki page, or article, as it predates the wiki, was written when glibc dropped i386 support.
That was at glibc-2.2.

The method should still be valid. Rebuild order is important as CHOST is embedded all over the place.
The wrong order will break your toolchain.

You may want to quickpkg things before you start, so you have an 'undo'.

Hello, NeddySeagoon. Nice to hear from you again.

Yes, everything will be in chroot on a backup copy of the running machine. Only after success, it'll be replaced by the working machine.
