hash-sysv-compat seems to get more reliability for eac stuff, is this option exclusively available for gentoo users or is a default for all binary distros?

I asking about this because a game I play was updated to EAC support and the game works like a charm , I didn't think it works, then i don't know the importance of been activated hash-sysv-compat.

thanks a lot.

It *used* to be a glibc default, but hasn't been for some time and if distros want to keep it then they have to manually pass -Wl,--hash-style=both when building their glibc.

Many distros do it (by no means a "gentoo thing") but not necessarily all, some prefer to keep glibc's expected defaults (while hoping that steam will fix things to not rely on this on their side, I don't know the status of that). Gentoo uses glibc's defaults unless users opt-in with that USE=hash-sysv-compat if they need it.

Then if I use steam with EAC games is it necessary yet? or how to know it? I won't to deactivate because when something works in proton-gaming...

thanks :)
