Hi Everyone,
I am encountering a black screen after booting into my desktop environment on Gentoo Linux. The system seems to be booting up normally, but once I reach the point where the desktop should appear, the screen goes black. I can still hear system sounds, but no display shows up.
Here are the details:
Gentoo Version: Gentoo 2024
Desktop Environment: GNOME
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 1650
Log Files: Xorg logs, dmesg output
Steps I Have Tried:
Rebooting
Reinstalling the desktop environment
Updating drivers
Switching to a different display manager (source: [Moderator edit: A commercial link has been deleted - this account will be banned if it is repeated -- pietinger]
Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Any help or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

romromillys,
there are not actual "Xorg logs and dmesg output" (link or otherwise) in your post. |

PREEMPT_RT currently requires patch for intel Skylake iGP here; otherwise Xorg turns to blank screen. Wayland untested.
Thks 4 ur attention. _________________ USE="-* ..." in /etc/portage/make.conf here, i.e. a countermeasure to portage implicit braces, belt & diaper paradigm

Thanks for pointing that out! I will gather the Xorg logs and dmesg output to help diagnose the black screen [Moderator edit: A commercial link has been deleted - this account will be banned if it is repeated -- pietinger] issue and share them soon. |
