CachyOS github
Only required if you intend to do PREEMPT_RT
If migrating .config from an old PREEMPT_RT kernel, e.g. 6.11, please apply patch beforein order to keep iGP configuration sane.
Strange feeling this may take a long time to reach kernel.org, if it ever does.

12.3 patch is 12.4 compatible.

this path does not lead to money, so it is not interesting to them. games, that is what Linux developers are currently focused on. there is money there. |

It sounds like you're working with the PREEMPT_RT patch for real-time kernel performance on CachyOS. Keeping iGPU configurations stable during migration is crucial. Are you running into any specific issues with the patch application or kernel compilation? My brother is an indie game developer, and he frequently shares large game assets with his team. Filemail has made it incredibly easy for him to send high-quality textures, audio files, and project builds without any restrictions. It’s a game-changer for anyone working in game development!

The main users of these patches are the industry, and they don't seam to be into a hurry to integrate them into vanilla. They know how to patch a kernel... But these patches are still making their way into vanilla, one step at a time, and we can hope this will be completed in 1 year, or maybe 2 or 3 years, who knows. _________________ "Confirm You are a robot." - the singularity |

Also it was a discussion a few years ago into the linux audio community about the rt group of the cgroups. Some wanted to develop a solution for the jack software to be added into that rt cgroup when connecting to jack. This was never done, maybe because the kernel devs was saying they was not sure they want to keep that rt cgroup.
Which imply that, when RT_PREEMPT will be fully integrated into vanilla, it will make no use to maintain 2 concurrent systems to provide the same feature, and they will certainly remove the rt cgroup from the cgroups. If I am right, that imply the industry prefer RT_PREEMPT that is well tested and simpler (it just works without the need to configure it for every single software that use it), over the rt cgroup mechanism. _________________ "Confirm You are a robot." - the singularity |
