I have a Dell Optiplex 3050 Micro PC which I am seeking to Libreboot using the instructions at the links belolw:
https://libreboot.org/docs/install/dell3050.html
https://libreboot.org/docs/install/ivy_has_common.html
I have already downloaded the Libreboot ROM file but I am being thrown for loop with how the instructions say I need to make sure I inject necessary vendor files into the tarballs of the Libreboot ROM or else I could risk bricking my motherboard.
I would be grateful if anybody in this community with some Libreboot experience can answer my questions below:
#1. The tutorials in the links above do not identify the vendor files I need to inject into tarballs. Where do I find these vendor files and in what file format do they need to be in?
#2. Are these vendor files flashed to the BIOS chip after I have already flashed the Libreboot ROM to the BIOS chip? Or is the reverse order correct?
My basic understanding as a total libreboot beginner was all I had to do to successfully Libreboot my Dell 3050 involved just flashing the BIOS with the Libreboot ROM I downloaded using a Ch341A Programmer connected to a cabled clamp to the BIOS and FlashROM software. However, this task relating to injecting vendor files into tarballs has really complicated things for me. In short, any advice will be greatly welcomed. Thank you for your time. |
