Now I'm not so sure it was a mixup.
I can get into thunderbird, and hit write to start an email, and select the receivers, but when I click to get into the topic section, it crashes with the crash window coming up. Actually it crashes when I type the first character.
Is anybody else seeing anything like this? |

Now I have another problem: gnumeric.
I was on gnumeric last night and the only issue was that some of the cells said -nan. Not good if this is where you put critical stuff.
But today gnumeric crashes on startup if I click the file.
If I run gnumeric & from a shell it comes up, but crashes when some files are opened. Some other files open, but every item says -nan.
Dmesg says gnumeric is segfaulting.

I use it every week, and it has not been upgraded since September. It started acting up today.
I have NFS set up to give me access to the same files from another (arch) machine, which has Gnumeric. The files open, look correct, and can be edited
and saved, so file corruption is not the problem.
Does this sort of thing sound familiar to anyone?
Update: I'm trying out various gui programs. Firefox seems to work. Geany seems to work.
Inkscape does this:

This sounds like it could be bug 942573 given a) Athlon; b) -nan mentioned, although I thought Mozilla built firefox-bin and thunderbird-bin with Clang.
I'll keyword fixed GCC 14 now (was planning on doing it shortly and was waiting for things to quieten down before Christmas) and will stable it soon. Can you try emerge -v1 =sys-devel/gcc-14.2.1_p20241221? You may then need to rebuild gnumeric and its libraries. Unfortunately, the nature of this bug (broken FPU state) means that you may need to rebuild everything. |

Then:

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

I ran emaint to update the system, then retried it.
I had to put this in package.accept_keywords:

This will take all night. Then I'll give an update. Thanks! |

Thunderbird has its independent release team although they still use Mozilla's infra. But both do use clang, even Thunderbird.

Thanks. amonakov pointed out on IRC that it may well be one of the libraries TB uses, and also reminded that for FF, at least for my case, the bundled harfbuzz was miscompiled. |

I ran this:
Code: | emerge -uDUva --with-bdeps=y gnumeric |
and it rebuilt 24 packages, but keep in mind that the emaint update caused some of these updates.
Anyway, gnumeric still fails the same way.
Did I build it correctly?
I'm going to try the usual system update now and see what happens. |
