Hi guys.
How can i configure the sound on my iBook G4? Should i use ALSA (i don't find the name of the soundcard on apple.com) or the kernel module? I use kernel ppc-sources 2.4.22.
Thanks, and sorry for my bad english... _________________ Menkalinan

alsaconf must detect your soundcard. The iBook G4 soundcard is a "powermac" card. I think the module is snd-powermac, but I suggest you to use alsaconf.
I have some issues with my iBook (framebuffer, sleep mode, lid close...) but the sounds seems to work. However, now I'm using OSS until I change to the kernel 2.6 . But I got alsa to work a few days ago.
Good luck! And sorry for my poor english too ;-)

Hi Menkalinan,
With kernel 2.4 I used the OSS module for the powermac sound card and it worked fine. With the new 2.6.0 kernel I'm using the ALSA support. You need just to recompile the kernel including the ALSA support natively or as module, the choice is with you, I advice you the first choice as I did.
Remember to setup a mixer too or you'll not listen to anything, try alsa-utils or aumix.
Cheers,
