dear friend. I emerge gentoo-kernel,dist version of kernel. but seem the kernel is configed for m
686. is it possible to make menuconfig to get a new.config file for 486cpu?

thanks. I see this and know howto build all by hand. I want to know why the platform I am using is i486,486 compile chain, I think the base root is 486 ready, but the dist kernel is i686ready and need to adjust my self.
if I run gentoo with amd k6-2, pentium mmx cpu before pemtum pro pentium2 , I still need I486 platform? |

The pre pentiumpro CPUs you list are all i586.
They all have an FPU and will run 586 code. _________________ Regards,
