I pulled out an old laptop, a Dell Vostro 1700 with a Centrino Duo, 19" screen, 2 HDD's! and separate Nvidia graphics. I used this years ago to record live sound with an Edirol FA-66 firewire interface and FFADO.
The battery was shot but it started straight up complaining about the time (battery gone). Took me a few tries on the pasword. But it booted and ran. Did a "uname -a"....
"Linux dell 2.6.34-gentoo-r1 #1 SMP PREEMPT ...." That kernel was released in 2010. Last recording I found on it were from 2015.
Next weekend I'm going to dig out that Edirol FA-66 and see if that still works. _________________ Expert in non-working solutions |
