Hey guys!
Sorry for opening a topic just for this, but I tried searching for something similar and couldn't find anything. Recently, I decided to update my kernel to the latest longterm version, 6.12.16 (I just checked kernel.org, and it seems they updated it yesterday, 02/27, and the new longterm version is 6.12.17). After several hours of configuring, I achieved a reasonable result. There are still some adjustments to be made, but that's not the point.
That said, when checking my dmesg, I found the following message:
Quote:
ACPI: \_TZ_.TZ00: _AL2 evaluation failure

Can anyone help me with this? What does it mean? From my research, it seems to be related to thermal management.
But my question is:
On my old kernel, 6.1.67, I got the following in dmesg:
Quote:
ACPI: \_TZ_.TZ00: Invalid active2 threshold

I wanted to know if there's something wrong with my configuration and if I need to worry about this. Any help would be appreciated! :D

sokrovenno,
Not much info to go on there, but realistically these ACPI errors aren't worth spending a heap of time on here, and will be dependent on your hardware / firmware and whether you set up any scripts in ie. /etc/acpi/*

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/ACPI Has some examples.

From your error, which is a Thermal Zone Interface Error as you already discovered, you have a situation where _AC2 has been defined somewhere. Probably in relation to setting a fan speed option.

My memory on this is outdated and a bit hazy, but as I recall: If _AC2 is defined, then _AL2 also has to be defined. So if you do have some acpi scripts to review, I'd be searching for those.

I'd say that issue existed in the earlier Kernel too, just the message is slightly different. Is it something to worry about? I'd say probably not, but if it bugs you you should be able to work out where it's coming from.

Good luck.
