|
|
I have a two monitor KDE Plasma 6 system and, through systemsettings, both are running their maximum resolution. On one display (but not the other) when I maximize a KDE window, the display only shows about 90% of the window. E.g. the window title will be just off the top of the display.
I assume this is a KDE setting but can't find it. Any hints to fix this will be gratefully received.
[SOLVED] I have two, new 1920x1200 monitors and this is no longer a problem. [/SOLVED]

Do the monitors have the same resolution or different ? And if different, on which monitor does it happen ? |

The left monitor is 1920x1200 and the right is 1920x1080. The problem occurs only on the right. |

If you go in Settings->System Settings->Display and Monitor, what resolution does it show for monitoris ? It looks like that plasma draws 1920x1200 picture on the right monitor |

In System Settings, the left is 1920 x 1200 and the right is 1920 x 1080. I agree that Plasma seems to think the right monitor is 1920 x 1200. I'm using Wayland. If I change the right monitor with max 1920x1080 (16:9) to 1680x1050 (16:10) then it has the same aspect ratio as the left monitor and maximizing seems to work.
Is there a way to keep the max 1920 x 1080 resolution for the right monitor? |

I don't know anything about wayland and whether there are any other configuration besides what KDE exposes, but is there a choice of what monitor is primary, and can it be switched ? (Maybe just by the physical connection) |

When I change the resolution in KDE System Settings from 1920x1080 (16:9), the monitor's max resolution according to its specs, to 1680x1050 (16:10) maximizing works normally. KDE quickly gives me a choice to keep or revert this new setting. If I choose to revert, a new resolution appears in the drop-down list, 1920x1200 (16:10), which isn't possible with this monitor. If I choose 1920x1080 (16:9), this impossible resolution disappears from the list.
I think this is a Wayland/KWin problem as KWin is the current compositor for Wayland. For unrelated reasons, I'm getting two new, identical monitors tomorrow and will see if problems persist. Thx for your suggestions. |
