In reply to the CS haters, I hate it too. I just particularly hate it when you're having a good time only and somebody states he's 13, and goes blabla about his experience. It's not even the feeling that I a am playing the same game kids are playing. I just recall myself being 13 and my respect to everyone older than me. That seems to have disappeared. Everyone wants to have status online. At all costs. Geez.

hehe... thats not the bad thing about CS... the bad thing is when people Whine and talk shit to you.... my favorite comeback is "Oh yea? well you use Windoze!" they can never say anything back... they are alwayss speechless, and then some of them go ".....wtf?" and dont get me started on the AWP.... wow... and then they brag about how their score is 30-7 because they point and click and everyone infront of them die... BTW, ibe got a friend who lives 10 houses down from me.... he is in CAL... whenever i want to hang out he's like, i cant.... ive got a scrim tonight. Well say goodbye to everyone around you and become suicidal.... idiot.

And yes, I hate that "professionnal gaming" thing too. That's just... dumb. Nowadays we live in a world where people take videogames way too seriously. It's supposed to be a goddamn game you morons! You know, something you play for FUN. I just can't stand playing a FPS with someone who too serious about it, it's just no fun.

They also thought that the computer wouldn't have any future in careers. Believe it or not but the world still turns and our society still changes, Professional Gaming is a new career, much like the other new careers which are created each and everyday. There isn't much difference between Professional Gaming and Professional Sports, I hope one day that we can hear CS tournament scores on ESPN or TSN along with other sports scores.

You people hate games that are at least playable.. Go plop down $45 on Descent to Undermountain as I. Fall for all the hype for YEARS (2 years development). 8O. Upon purchasing such a piece of rubish with no recourse, (no return policy) :x . I future life of pirating software seems justifiable, if not righteous.

I'd like to add all Blizzard games to my list. It baffles me as to how anyone could play Diablo II or Warcraft 3 for more than an hour or so, but to each his own I guess..

Nice flash :)

For every game that keeps me glued to the screen, there comes a time I ask myself: "shhiii, what have I been doing all these days...". That's a good day for university :). I just hate it when they take so much time. So I hate the best games 8O .

need for speed the very first version was absolute crap and wasn't much better until the latest in the series emerged on the latest systems xbox and ps2

although i've not played it i'm too scarred from the terrible play from the first version to warrant trying the latest version

its weird everyone else seems to have liked that game

That will never happen at least with our current computing possibilities. Computer gaming is a game, not a sport. Big difference. There is no benefit to even posting scores on their ticker. My suggestion would be to create a gaming channel and stry to sell it to some cable networks, oh wait....

Do you have a point? A basketball game isn't a game? Do you think there is some huge importance to any sporting event? Sorry, no. They are, for the most part, people running around with a ball, trying to put it in a place other people don't want it. That is about as meaningful as your average CounterStrike match.

Their only significance is the enormous amount of money people who would rather watch than live spend on sporting events. There is no reason in five to ten years computer gaming won't be just as big. If not bigger.

Id have to agree with JackDog.

Yes, a basketball game is a game, but basketball isn't. Basketball is a sport whereas computer games still remain games. Sure there are professional gamers out there, just like there are professional athletes, but that's all beside the question. Computer gaming isn't a sport because it doesn't involve any physical activity. Of course the line can be drawn anywhere, like does everybody consider golf to be a sport (you hit a ball, and ride around in a car all day), but since I dont consider chess to be a "sport", I dont consider computer gaming sport. So a counter-strike game will always be a game to me, not a sport.

On the other hand, that shouldn't be a reason why i can't be on ESPN or something ...

Well, I have to agree with yutt. You see, sport isn't something special, it is just leisure. Gaming is leisure. And for some reason or another people tend to make even leisure out of watching people having a good time, which then evolves into being a professional activity (Professional sports). Since in gaming there is already a widely used spectator mode, I am sure that a gamingchannel will be there in the future, games will just have to evolve a bit more.

Unfortunately, people will start bashing eachothers heads in because the other supports the blue team instead of the red team... But that seems to be part of professionalism. (hey, this is an OTW topic ;))

Hmm... is this limited to video games?

If not, "Magic: The Gathering" gets my vote!

Well, if we aren't limiting then I would like to include any reality television game.

I really can't stand any of the UT games, the weapons are too silly and the physics make it seem like the world is made of foam rubber.
CS is still the only game to make me regret wiping windows from my machine, after all these years it's still the top team fps, wolf ET I find ok but It lacks the 'dead time' of cs, wich was great for getting to know the people you play with (and et has rocket lanuchers  ).

In fact if it wasn't for steam (valve suck the proverbial large one) I'd have probably put a windows partion in just for CS.

I have to agree with the UT portion, all I used to hear was "HEADSHOTTTTTT RAMPAGGGGE", and it was very annoying (I disabled this stuff on my CS server). ET is a decent game, I only wish the panzer wasn't as accurate as an awp, but as slow as a quake1/tc rocket launcher. CS runs in cedega just fine too now, no more fussing around with patches, old dll's and your configs :D

The Madden football series. Most. Milked. Franchise. Ever.

As I'm getting older, I would have to say any game that has networking. I'm with the gaming as leisure camp. I have to interact with people all day long. When I get home, I want something I can get lost in by myself.

The anonymity that the Internet affords people ruins nothing like it does a multiplayer game. Too many "underdeveloped" people spewing profanity, bigotry, and other things. Yeah, that's what I want to boot up.

I too hate Counter Strike. Too many teenagers play the game, cheat, deny they cheat and then accuse other of cheating. It's very very annoying to have a good game.
