CS, after being told about how great it was so many times I tried it out and found it was pretty bland. And the sims is also a game I dislike.
Other then that I can't really think of alot of games in paticular. But I dislike alot of fantasy/rpg's. Some aren't that bad, but It bothers me that ppl can become so immersed in these games that the lines of reality start to fade. I'm sure this isn't the case with all rpg players but just the idea of anyone in that state is enough to scare me off. My second hated type of games are cheap ones. With all the great engines (like the unreal engine) sitting around for game developers to use games are made really cheap. Its annoying, they rush these off to the store in a matter of months and every last one of them has the same look and feel, just a change in story. Take a look at any great game, almost all of them use a new engine. Everyone else simply uses the engine once its outdated |

Unreal tournament and all its children, I personally think it has the worst feel to play of any fps I have evr encountered. _________________ Bunder for president ^o^ |

GTA3 - I spent ages wondering what was wrong with my graphics setup until I realised the game was actually supposed to look like that. Ugh! Straight back to the shop for a refund... |

yeah, the game has some pretty grainy visuals, but the gameplay (minus the sucky aiming) is very good. _________________ unite |

CounterStrike really bored me . I heard lods of people saying it was good etc and played it for a day before it bored me. As did DoD. UT and UT2K3 wern't that much better either lol. How people say UT is the best online fps I don't know how much skill does it take to fire multiple rockets at 1 target lol . Everyone seems to forget about all of the quake series as they probably find them too hard compared to the rubbish new fps's that are spawning all over the place and take next to no skill . _________________ kernel 4.15.17-1-equk | i3wm | github |

Excuse me, did someone just insult Visual Basic games?
Then go to my site and check out Ridge Rally and Squad Based Tactics. Prepare to be amazed.

I believe I have done a lot better with those two games than many of you have done in C/C++/ASM or whatever language you guys write your games in. |

neat, nice work for VB, of course it would be nice if you where doing it with something else and aiming it at the linux market
But as far as GTA3, I thought the graphics look great. Although I am running it with 8x AA and AF at 1024x768. Maby you need a higher resolution. |

nethack/rogue/etc How can people sit infront of that for YEARS... what's the fun of it? You have an X move over the screen and when your press ATTACK the other Letter dissapears... wow that was exciting, the adreneline is going through my veins
Well the worst players are CS players, they are the worst losers, too. Everyone in CS has such a terrible ego, and if they die it's NOT their fault, it's either the other player, cheats, a teammate, lag, low fps, a bug, or a sunstorm which influenced the packets you send to the server... but NEVER him, because he's been playing since BETA_1!
But all in all, CS can be terribly addicting, and I can tell, I've been addicted to it for years. _________________ generatesig |

Nethack was really fun! ... When I was eight =)
My most "hated" games of all time are the entire Deer Hunter series, Enter the Matrix, and Fly 2. This is because I worked in tech support for two years, and I got completely tired and disguested of answering the same questions over and over again (e-mail and phone), even though they were answered in full and gory detail on the phone system, and the website. That, and those games were all poorly-written pieces of money-sucking drivel, but somehow thousands upon thousands of units were sold.
"This would be a great job, if it weren't for the f**king customers!" =)
CS was a great game, when it first came out. We're talking playing on a LAN with co-workers, not playing on public servers. Well, even the public servers were okay for a while, then came the cheaters, and the 13 year old racist homophobes with a chip on their collective shoulder. But I suppose I could rant on about uneducated people all day. Seems like it's a pretty common theme to harp on for this topic _________________ If at first you don't succeed, RTFM

I play CS. (*GASP*)
Sometimes it's bad, with cheaters, team-killers, team-flashers (GRRR) and idiots spewing racism.
But when you play it on a LAN with your friends, it's actually a rather good game.
But I still play Quake3 Arena the most. I just can't put that game down. It's just too much fun.
The game I hate the most? Probably Starcraft.
Why would I play that god-forsaken click-fest of a semi-strategy game when I can play a real strategy game like Total Annihilation? |

Counter-Strike really annoys me. 80% of the time, iti just makes me so damn angry, what with the cheaters, and the T team always (always) winning then buying awm's as the CT's can't afford any more than a deagle... Occasionally It's okay, and I expect it'd be pretty good on a LAN or something, but they closed down the only LAN arena place anywhere near to me so I think I'll just play ET.
Speaking of which, I recently rejoiced to find that Steam worked right away with winex compiled from cvs, at which point I realised why I didn't try very hard to get it working with wine in the first place _________________ - I

Like dislike UT2003 I also liked UT better.
In fact, on my system I can crank out UT gfx all the way and the fps count is very high. In UT2K3, to get a proper frame rate on my system I have the lower the gfx to a point where there really isn't that much of a difference ( it's still a bit better but it's also slower ).
I just hate when this happens, the old game runs faster and thus you can get the gfx better than on it's sequel |

I hate XPilot because I am addicted and play it all the freakin time. (love-hate you could say)
There are 1001 games out there that are bad, but I don't hate them because, well, no one is forcing me to play them. |

Moon Project...it's a good idea, but really boring. StarCraft/Brood War is better than it any time.
Also, DAoC. It took me 50 levels to figure out why...because PvP sucked hard. |

Mongrol wrote: | StarWars Galaxies. A game that coulda promised so much but is yet another ultimate example of all thats wrong with Capitalism. A great ethos wasted. I believe its also put the final nail in the MMORPG coffin. These things cost far too much to make so no publisher is ever going to take a chance on something new.
UO started it and AC1 finished it. Everything since is just rehashed level mill crap for mindless drones that live on telly, Macdonalds and Friends. |
ASHERON'S CALL 1! Probably the best MMORPG. Started playing it from BETA. Too bad it got old. =/
Games I hate... Star Wars, KOTOR.. only because it was so good, and incredibly addictive, that I literally stayed up for a week straight to beat it. Crap, who am I kidding... I love that game.. I'm going to go play it again right now!
DAOC ... man, those were some of the best graphics ever. The beauty of the game ended there though. Game play was repetitive, and boring at best. Too bad. Yet another prematurely released mmorpg. When I was in this BETA, the game looked very promising, because I would think, wow, for a BETA version, this game is fun. When I bought it on release day, I thought, wow, this is still the BETA client. For BETA, it was cool, but for $50 ... damnit, I just wasted $50.
Star Wars Galaxies.. I hate this game already, although I have never played it. $50.00 just to try the game? If you don't like it, you can't return it. If you do like it, $15 / month. eff that! I'd try it if they released a downloadable demo like the rest of the mmorpg's out there, but only so I could hate the game even more. I also read a review someone who tried the game wrote. He spent the first three hours in the game building a fishing pole... only to then spend 2 more hours trying to make some bait! Wow, that sounds like so much fun I think I'll go outside and shoot myself in the foot. Who in their right mind would want to give George Lucas another $65 so they can build a fishing pole?! _________________ Stupid bug, you go squish now!

"Well, me personally am a strategy fan, c&c sort of thing. Couple weeks ago I was going through some old cds of mine and stumbled across Total Annihilation, and holy crap does it SUCK! I can't believe I used to like that game, it's horrible, anyone can relate?"
No, it's still one of my all-time favourites. I had 1 battle which lasted 3 whole days, gain an inch, lose an inch (sounds like spam!) The feeling of victory at the end was terrific. It runs under Wine, too.
Lords of Midnight was a classic, also Shadowfire. (Both on the ZX Spectrum) Elite, too.
PC games - I thought Daggerfall was good, although I think it had 320x200 graphics which were pretty rough. GTAIII was amazing, don't like Vice City anywhere near as much. Far less atmosphere. The original Need for Speed was a cut above everything else at the time.
On the atari ST, Dungeon Master ruled the roost.
If I was stuck on a desert island with a 240v generator, a PC and a limited selection of disks, I'd take all of the above plus my VB6 & VC6 installs and a word processor
Cheers

Starcraft.
This game was stupid from the startup to the end. The graphics were craft, the music was crap, the cutscenes were crap, the storyline was crap, and most of all, the gameplay was pure crap.
Especially compared to a game that required some brains to play like Total Annihilatiion...
Oh, and StarWars Galaxies. God that game was terrible...

I am suprised that a few of my favorite games to hate have not been mentioned.
- Anarchy Online. Man did that suck for all three days I tried to play it., you ask othe rplayers that love the game, they all say, "Yeah this game is great just don't go into town". Of course you have ot go into town & suffer through the 1 frame per minute navagation.
- GalCiv is another one I hated. It's problem, it could not see my internet connection. Ummm, yeah, great game, it is all online & cannot manage to see a bridged DSL connection. Add it to the coaster pile.
- The Sims. Gee, I should give up having a social life so that I can play a game about folks that have a life. This game gets very tedious, very quickly. while I normally like the SIM* games, No amount of expansion packs or graphics upgrades will ever save it from my hate pile.
- DDR. A.K.A. Dance Dance Revolution. Sure you look like one of Jerrys kids when you play it, the song selection sucks, and you have to have a special controller (that breaks if you step on it wrong) to play it. That should not stop it from sucking right Wrong. this game was only good at the conception phase of game design. it fails everywhere else.
- Farscape: the game. You can throw in any games based on a movie or TV show here. Why did they have to muck up a perfectly good show with a piss poor PC game, with shitty graphics it is anybodys guess.
- Impossible Creaures. Aside from the humor factor of creating flying apes, this game has no redeaming qualities.
- Temple of Elemental Evil. I am a big fan of Neverwinter nights & many D&D titles, but OMG, could you please not inflict this steaming pile mule dung on the RPG crowd I have played better designed NWN mods and they are free not to mention that you are not all that $$$.

Do you remember the glory days when we played Prince of Percia on a PC1 Olivetti with only one floppy 740k drive ? Maybe Arcanoid, Popcorn, Froggy, Otelo.. Those were the best games ever made.. Now it's too much eye-candy, too much "easy-too-play-with-no-story". Sincerely I don't like the new games, I'm not an addicted gamer, all games last (for me) only a couple of days. _________________ "Assim como falham as palavras quando querem exprimir qualquer

I really hate Age of Mythology.
I don't like there is a population limit in it, and I feel the game is too "slow". It takes too long to kill an enemy. They are too many different resources, ...
C&C is much better! |
