I'm looking for a software audio compressor(NOT compression) for use in Gentoo, anybody know of one?

I'm not being to helpfull, but what do you mean by compressor and not compression?

There are specialized lossless audio file compression(zip) utilities out there, I didn't want people getting confused about what I wanted.

Are you encoding audio into another format or adding a compression effect?

If you're thinking of compressing the dynamic range, perhaps there is one among the LADSPA processors.

LADSPA is a plugin SDK, so I think you will need a host capable of running such plugins. plugin.org.uk has some compression effects, apparently.
