Passing use arguments to Emerge

How about being able to pass per-package USE flags when doing an emerge?
That is, let's say you want to emerge program Thing, which you happen to know would break if it tried using the one of the flags you've got set, which we'll call Bob. You could type:
emerge thing --use="-bob" *
which would automatically add "-bob" to your USE options for that emerge only. Is that feasible?
