Turn off LCD screen after awhile

Is there any sort of app that can turn off a screen or monitor after a given amount of time? I was thinking something like a screensaver, except it turns off the screen instead of having an animation, etc. (I don't know if you guys are familiar with windows, but I was looking for something similar to the 'Power Options' Control Panel setting that turns off your monitor after awhile.)

Just trying to save my LCD!

(I'm running Gentoo on a Dell Latitude C840 laptop.)
