I'm just wondering that could I somehow use/port hpt372/370 raid drivers from xfs-sources kernelmodules to 2.6 kernel. I can use my hd's as an raid 0 array when using XFS-sources kernel, but I have not succeeded in using other kernels sofar. I think I'm not skilled enough to extract the neccessary modules from xfs-sources modules. But I can prolly dig up which modules are necessary. So in short could this be done? |

I went through the 2.4.24-xfs sources and the drivers directory. It contains raid subdirectory and it contains hptraid and ataraid drivers. Those 2 are the drivers which are missing from the other kernels. Well I have only checked 2.6.4mm and gentoo 2.6.3 sources. It'd be nice to be able to use these drivers built in other kernels.
Of course there are instructions how to patch kernels or howto insmod those drivers but they are so confusing and complicated.
I might try the highpoint drivers from their website, but I've read on these forums that it might not be worth the trouble. |
