|
|
Hi,
I got a Epson Stylus C64 as x-mas present, but I don't get it to work. I tried it with the Gentoo printing howto:
Because the version of foomatic-db in the portage tree ist too old I first tried it with the Epson-Stylus_C62 printer modell and:
Code: | foomatic-configure -s cups -p Epson-Stylus_C62 -c file:/dev/lp0 -n Epson -d gimp-print |
With this CUPS (localhost:631) showed something like "Epson foomatic/Gimp-print" but the printer printed a lot of bullshit. I couldn't stop it.
Because of that I downloaded the current version of foomac-db and moved the foomatic-current/db to /usr/share/foomatic/db and configured the printer with:
Code: | foomatic-configure -s cups -p Epson-Stylus_C64 -c file:/dev/lp0 -n Epson -d gimp-print |
But now CUPS on localhost:631 shows Epson as "Local Raw Printer" and printouts are really raw (%!PS-ADOBE-3.0...).
Any suggestions?
Or who to ask to add the current foomatic-db to the portage tree?
Thanks,
Tassilo |

No suggestions here, but I did get this printer working with OSX. It was plug and play all the way and I'm pretty sure that OSX uses cups. Maybe that will lead you in the right direction.
As far as the foomatic db goes, I would suggest just going to linuxprinting.org and fetching the ppd for your specific printer. Most likely it will use gimp-print with the latest version being in portage. HTH. |
