| When I try to 'emerge xfree' it's looking for a file called 'XFree86-4.3.0-patches-1.1.7.tar.bz2' but it can't find it on any of the server - I've checked and I can't find it either. I'm doing this because it seems that when I did 'emerge kde' it didin't install xfree |

I don't really know, but maybe try 'emere sync' first if you'r using an old portage trre that maybe came with a cd or something
when i emerge xfree, it has XFree86-4.3.0-patches-2.1.25.tar.bz2
, which seems to be a way newer patch set, which leads me to believe you need a newer ebuild because quite possibly hey took the old files down once newer version were up
