Hello,
I am trying to find out how to get my Scanner working.
Searched the forum but didn't get a real hint.
I did:
emerge xsane
modprobe scanner
and if I do a
Code: | bash-2.05b# sane-find-scanner |
I get the following:
Code: | # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
# No USB scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a driver for your USB host controller and have installed a
# kernel scanner module.
# Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports can't be
# detected by this program. |
but dmesg says:
Code: |
usb.c: registered new driver usbscanner
scanner.c: 0.4.6:USB Scanner Driver
|
and /var/log/messages says:
Code: | Dec 31 14:10:59 labor1 scanner.c: 0.4.6:USB Scanner Driver |
But I do not get an /dev/usbscanner or similar.
Can somebody please help me ??? _________________ ...keine Experimente. |

I have lide20, and get a /dev/usb/scanner0 from compiling in the USB scanner kernel option. I haven't tried it as a module, but I might try that as after doing a scan (using KDE's Kooka scan & OCR program) the scanner's light stays on, and I read somewhere else here that rmmod'ing the driver when it is a module will turn off the light.
I'm on 2.6 now, but have had it working with 2.4 as well.
I have sane-backends and sane-frontends installed, but I'm not sure if they are needed or used in my current configuration. |
