USB -> iPod

Hi All,

I have an iPod which on my Win2K laptop, I can just plug into the laptop and the laptop sees it as a USB hard disk.

If I plug this into my Gentoo Linux laptop, I plug the iPod in and nothing seems to happen. Either I've not configured it for USB or I just don't know how to access the hard disk.

Can any one offer a suggestion or two?

BTW, How do you check if your usb is working or not?
