Hello!

I'm running 2.6, and k3b dosn't want to burn a cd.. i'm not sure why, it use to fine, i just installed a dvd burner so that might be related, or it may be involved in the change in kernel versions (from one mm 2.6 kernel to another)

this is the debug output thinger:

/usr/bin/cdrecord: Read-only file system. Cannot open '/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
/usr/bin/cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
/usr/bin/cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.

Check if your DVD burner driver is in the kernel. Then, reconfigure k3b. If nothing else works, there's always ide-scsi! :)

I think it's just a case of a badly configured k3b.

Do not use ide-scsi on a 2.6 kernel. To say it's horribly broken is being very polite.

Verify that you included ide-cd in this kernel. Then try using the shorter /dev/hdx name (some report that fixes the trouble).

Erm.. wasn't quite clear, i'm trying to burn a CD w/ a CD-RW drive i already had installed.

Ide-cd was installed.

It's /dev/hdd, but i couldn't figure how to get k3b to use that.

Hi!

I have the same problem and I think it's because I'm not using ide-scsi. When using cdrecord/cdrdao on an xterm I always have to specify the device as
Code:
ATAPI:0,0,0 (for your /dev/hdd it should be ATAPI:0,1,0).

I havent' tried it yet, but you can setup options for cdrecord and cdrdao in k3b.
Try setting the device with these options so that cdrecord/cdrdao does not try to detect it itself.

I too had to specify "dev=ATAPI:0,1,1" as user parameter for cdrecord to make k3b to work nicely.
