|
|
Hi all,
I installed bzflag-1.10 (been a *long* time bzflag fan). Running it gives me this error (and a blank screen):
Code: | greg@humboldt greg $ bzflag
loading fixedbr
Can't continue without font: fixedbr
Failed to load resource because the 'data'
directory can't be found. Please run bzflag
with the data directory as the current directory
or provide the location of the data directory
using the -directory command line option.
|
running it like this (bzflag -directory /usr/share/bzflag/data/) gives the same error.
"locate fixedbr" shows this:
Code: | /usr/share/games/bzflag/fixedbr.png |
I copied that to /usr/share/bzflag/data/ to see if that would help - no luck.
Anybody with a working bzflag-1.10 feel like showing me the output of "locate fixedbr" on their box?
Thanks! _________________ "Life would be so much easier if we could see the source code" |

Mine's in the same place as yours. You're in the "games" group, right? _________________ Registered Linux User #263260 |

Nope, I dislike the "games" group idea - so I change all game files to root.users.
Doesn't matter anyhow, the game gives me the same error when I try to start it from root.
This is very strange. Maybe the problem isn't fixedbr after all....
Can I ask what's in your /usr/share/bzflag/data dir?
Thanks!

First off, the directory is /usr/share/games/bzflag, and secondly, there is no data directory. All the data is in /usr/share/games/bzflag and the binary is /usr/share/games/bin/bzflag. _________________ Registered Linux User #263260 |

That seemed strange to me - that I have that dir that you don't. Must be left over from an older version of bzflag. So, I made sure to delete *all* bzflag files (including user config files) and re-installed - and now it works!
Nice changes in the new version too!
Thanks!
