|
|
Hi!
I installed postal2 share the pain demo, but i have no sound
In the log (~/.postal2mpdemo/system/postal2.log) everything seems to be OK. In UT2003 I do have sound. It is strange, cuz Postal2 uses the UT2003 engine
After exiting postal2, i did a fuser -v /dev/dsp
ang got this back:
Code: |
bash-2.05b$ fuser -v /dev/dsp
USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/dsp cartman 4191 f.... postal2-bin
cartman 4201 f.... postal2-bin
cartman 4202 f.... postal2-bin
cartman 4207 f.... postal2-bin
|
so postal2 seems to freeze /dev/dsp
ALL other games and apps work fine
(except RTCW, when switching from MultiP. to SingleP. mode, the sound freezes, but starting it with wolfsp solved the problem)
plz help |

actually it would be better to get a new version of openal.so from their cvs (info is available at http://www.opanal.org) and link the openal.so in the folder to the one you compile yourself because the openal.so in ut2003 while it works, it is buggy so its better to use the latest version. |

I comiled the cvs version, so I now have a libopenal.so.0.0.6
i made a symlink to /usr/local/games/postal2*/System/openal.so
in the log, everything is fine, but still no sound.
when I copyied (copied? -sorry for my english:)) the one from ut2003, it finally WORKS. Yeah!!
But how can I create an openal.so from the cvs source?? It only compiles a libopenal.so file
I hope that a linux-installer will be avaiable for the SinglePlayer old Postal2 too. |
