Hi,
I'm trying to get this combination to work:
gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.0
vmware-workstation-4.0.5.6030
It seems to go smoothly, even the vmware configuration dialogue. But vmware never starts:
Code: | # /etc/init.d/vmware start
* VMware Workstation is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured
* for the running kernel. To (re-)configure it, invoke the
* following command: /opt/vmware/bin/vmware-config.pl.
* VMware is not properly configured! See above. |
After this it's impossible to configue again without a reboot:
Code: | # /opt/vmware/bin/vmware-config.pl
Making sure VMware Workstation's services are stopped.
/etc/vmware/init.d/vmware: line 940: [: -: integer expression expected
Stopping VMware services:
Virtual machine monitor failed
Unable to stop VMware Workstation's services.
Execution aborted. |
These modules are loaded:
Code: | # lsmod
Module Size Used by
vmnet 28600 -
vmmon 73844 -
nvidia 1698508 - |
(and I can't seem to unload them - how does that work in 2.6?)
Some people seem to have vmware running in earlier test-kernels. _________________ Excelsior! |

You need to have module unloading support in your kernel _________________ 'I belong to the "Great-God Party", and will have nothing to do with the "Little-God Party." Christ does not want nibblers of the possible, but grabbers of the impossible.'
