|
|
Hey. My hda1 looks like this at the moment:
1 - NTFS
2 - Ext2
3 - Swap
4 - ReiserFS
Is there any way to split or resize the Reiser-partition, so that I can use that space in windows? I guess there is no way to "move" free space from partition 4 to partition 1, but like I said, is it possible to maybe split it? Since there is a lot of free space on the partition.
Best regards, Johan |

Personally, I would boot up from liveCD, mount you / partition, back up all the info, repartition your reiserfs partition, then, restore all the info.
Though there maybe some programs like "partition magic" that will be able to repartition your HD "on the fly" _________________ If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.

sparriskrigaren,
You could look at parted, That will be your root partition too. Nothing like diving in at the deep end. I have no idea if it works with Reiserfs. _________________ Regards,

I have successfully run qtparted off of knoppix
It ran without a hitch, although, a couple things,
MAKE SURE YOUR REISERFS partition is NOT MOUNTED when you goto resize!!!!!!
Some folks have done it ok, some haven't...and the horror stories are really bad.
I recommend freeing up space via something like partition magic, that way qtparted won't have to do anything w/the ntfs partition and you don't risk anything. But as far as resizing a reiserfs partition that is right next to some free space on the HD, it should go just fine. |

i have a horror story w/ qtparted and reiserfs. i tried to resize, and it screwed my whole filesystem. i ran "fsck.reiserfs --rebuild-tree", and that fixed the filesystem, however, it removed some vital files, so gentoo was ruined....had to reinstall. the qtparted author says it's not qtparted, but "progsreiserfs." here's someone else who had the exact problem. http://qtparted.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=62 _________________ unite |
