|
|
I followed the instructions in the following message thread for installing qmail, vpopmail, spamassassin, clamav...
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=111817
But, to me, it doesn't appear that SpamAssassin is working. I keep seeing messages that are obvious spam just by looking at the subject line. According to the instructions in the above mentioned thread, SpamAssassin is supposed to alter the subject line with a "*****SPAM*****" string. I'm not seeing any messages like that, just the original unaltered spam messages.
So, my question is this...Is there a way to test SpamAssassin to verify that it is indeed working? I'm also trying to find out what RBL servers SpamAssassin uses so I can force it to never use SPEWS.
Anybody got any ideas on this? _________________ I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant...

By default, SpamAssassin should be placing headers in your messages. They should look something like:
Code: | X-Spam-Flag: YES
X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on
mail.server.com
X-Spam-Level: *******
X-Spam-Status: Yes, hits=7.8 required=5.0 tests=BAYES_99,BIZ_TLD,HTML_MESSAGE,
RCVD_IN_BL_SPAMCOP_NET,RCVD_IN_DSBL autolearn=no version=2.60 |
If you're not seeing these headers, then chances are SA isn't working properly.

Nope, not seeing anything like that. All I'm finding is a header modification made by clamav (which is obviously not detecting viruses). Would you happen to know of a more accurate HOWTO for configuring spamassassin/clamav with qmail and vpopmail? _________________ I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant...

I've only ever used SA on the client side through procmail, so I can't be of much help there.
