Im having a bit of a problem setting up gentoo. I am using the live CD's and when I use fdisk to create my partitions I get the following message:
"You will not be able to write the partition table. Device contains neither a valid DOS partition table, nor Sun, SGI, or OSF disklabel. Building a new DOS disklabel. Changes will remain in memory only, until you decide to write them. After that, of course, the previous content won't be recoverable.
Warning: invalid flag 0x0000 of partition table 4 will be corrected by w(rite)"
After this message, I am left at the fdisk prompt. After typing
"fdisk /dev/hda" and then "p" to show my partitions, it comes up with something like this:
"Disk /dev/hda: 520 MB, 520779776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 63 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 82255280 bytes"
Is that 520 mb come from my ram? (I have 512 mb) It did mention that changes will remain in memory only...As stated in the title, my HD is 30 GB.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I figured it out finally - thanks. |

My HD is identified as "hdc" as opposed to "hda". I feel dumb, heh.
