You can make a CD multi session, in which case its left open. You still use tools like X-CD-Roast to add sessions, but there is no Table of Contents written, so some readers won't read it.
The other way (CD-RW only on Linux just now) is to use packet writing, then you update it just like any other filesystem.
The first way just requires checking the right check box in the GUI.
The second way requires a kernel patch (already in some Gentoo kerenls) and the user space tools (emerge udftools) and perhaphs a kernel build. _________________ Regards,
