Hi everyone. I have had my server lockup twice in the last couple of days. Each time, when I look in the /var/log/everything/current file, I notice this:
Jan 4 13:22:54 [postfix/smtp] connect to meri.uwasa.fi[193.166.122.16]: Connection timed out (port 25)
Jan 4 13:23:24 [postfix/smtp] connect to meri.uwasa.fi[193.166.122.10]: Connection timed out (port 25)

As you can see, the line of garbage characters is written to the syslog right before the server crashes.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? I have tried searching everywhere, but unfortuantely nobody lets you search for "^@"
Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. The PC crashes and puts these ^@ in the log files. On my PC, the problem comes from the disks. Indeed, the first IDE controller (hda and hdb) works fine, but the second controller (hdc and hdd) is broken, so when I use hdc or hdd intensively the PC locks.
I moved my hdc to hdb and it didn't crash anymore so try to do something like this. |

I really have no help for you but I have the same garbage written to my log files when I try to runn dhcpcd, and then my kernel crashes into a panic. Please post what you do to fix it since it could help me too _________________ There are only 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand Binary and those that do not. |
