my network of a few computers all is connected to a linksys router(dsl) and dynamic ip. I am considering 2 setups:
1. as it is right now(above), and each computer will have its own firewall setup.
2. Is there real significant advantage to add an old computer to insert between router and the rest of computers as a firewall?
Note: one computer is a real webserver, the rest only test servers. _________________ bluesky

One firewall is easier to manage than several. Not having done so, I would think that logging an configurability would be an advantage over a 'linksys' type router. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I'd definately go with a dedicated firewall box. It's much more secure, and also much easier to manage. Plus, you can also run squid on the firewall box if you want, and get a great caching proxy to get better performance out of your connection. _________________ Gentoo:
