|

I use bittorrent quite a bit, but I've noticed that If i start uploading anywhere around 15k/s and up, it chokes ALL of my bandwidth down to almost nothing. Pinging my isp's gateway gives me a 1500ms ping time (cable modem). I've done some experimentation and it seems like its just uploading that causes this. I've tried bittorrent-theshadow but It throttleing doesn't allow you to go below 50k/s for its upstream which doesn't help my problem at all (besides the fact that I can't even get 50k/s upstream on a cable modem, the throttling is not even ever used).
Does anyone know of a way (or a different bt client) that will allow me to throttle upstream to around 5k/s? |

I don't know if this is a little bit overkill or overly complicated for you but you could give http://lartc.org/wondershaper/ a try. |

Emerge net-misc/trickle, it gives a nice easy way to limit stuff. (I use it for bittorrent myself.) |

start bittorrent with
Code: | --max_upload_rate <arg>
maximum kB/s to upload at, 0 means no limit (defaults
|
just type btdownloadgui.py or btdownloadcurses for a full list of options. |

This is really not true. TheShadow allows to throttle down upload speed down to 3 KBps. Just check the settings in the lower left corner of the window. The DSL range should be right for your connection. |
