|
|
Hi,
I'm hoping to purchase a replacement for my aging hifi system and am curious about the idea of buying a surround sound capable card, together with some decent speakers as I listen to most of my music through my PC anyway.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to good cards that play nicely with ALSA - it's important that the surround sound functions properly.

Card - easy Audigy 2 is the best. As for the speakers, depends on how much you are willing to spend.

The card seems about £50, so I guess about £60-80 for the speakers. Will probably just match them to something in that price range, unless anyone has any recommendations. _________________ Tom Wesley |

Well, then I would just pick up the surround sound system from creative as well. Works quite well.

Does the Audigy 2 really work good in Linux ? I've got an Audigy 1 and it took me half a year to get the surround sound working. AC3-Passthrough still doesn't work. And I cant switch from digital to analog output and back without rebooting. |
