|
|
Hi,
I am searching for an e-mail software I can use on both, my laptop and my main PC.
But I need some kind of sync options between both.
Like that I write it on my laptop and send it from there and after I synced both mail clients it appears in the sent folder of the main PC as well.
Is something like that available for linux?
Thanks for your help. |

You want IMAP.
Run an IMAP server on some (small) machine, and make sure the clients store the sent mail folders and such on the IMAP server; now you will have the same email system from any machine that uses it. |

That sounds good but could you be a little more specific in how to do that and what program to use?
And how can I fetch my mails from my pop3 account and store them on the imap server?
Thanks for your help! |

imap is an alternative to pop3. Check with the people who run your pop mail server, they may already have everything set up for imap as well.
Otherwise, building a mail server yourself just to sync the mail sounds like overkill. Email is just text files -you could easliy make a script to sync the mail. If you use maildir folders it should just be an rsync command. |

Well my mail provider is supporting imap but I would prefer to save all that locally so I don't have to worry about the space I use.
I only got 5MB at my provider and I like to save my mails for a long time |
