|
|
This is weird, I d/l a gentoo-livecd iso, checked against the md5 - it's ok. Burned it with
Code: | cdrecord dev=0,0,0 speed=4 i686-1.4-20030911-cd1.iso |
I tryed to mount it and it worked fine, I could browse the cd and all.
Then I put it in my PPro box that is an old Gentoo-boxen and start it up.
Ugh... it boots from the HD. If I disabled boot from HD and leave boot from CD
I get an error - no operating system. I then let it boot from HD and tryed to mount
the cd - it said no media loaded! I put a data cd in and mount it and lo - all is fine!
And that cd was burned with the same command as the gentoo-one!
I am completely lost to what the problem might be. Any suggestions?

You might still want to try Smart Bootmanager. It has worked for me in various occations, when booting form cd has failed. Just boot the SBM and select boot from CD.

The problem seems to be that my cd-drive won't read that cd at all, but thanks for the tip!
