I've really have no idea how I got to fix this... Google had no answers for me and I looked in some *.rc files... But I don't understand them. I think it has something to do with modules because when I restart /etc/init.d/modules & /etc/init.d/alsasound I get the same errors..
I haven't posted exactly ALL errors, but I hope this is enough.

Has someone got any idea?

(PS Everything is working perfectly on my system... But I just want know how to fix it  )

I looked in some *.rc files... But I don't understand them.

Beautiful.
That suggests to me that it might be worth a try to learn - welcome to Gentoo!

Now where did you get that idea ?
Maybe it was the 3864-odd modprobe errors you posted :D

MORE than enough - really.

I always have an idea - but I doubt it'll be of much use to you in this situation.

Fix what? Everything works perfectly you say!

Oh you want to know how to get rid of those nasty green lines.

Well... I dunno, could be lots of things... off top of head, I'd say:
- have you compiled devfs support into the kernel?
- have you NOT compiled devpts support ?
- have you messed with the Gentoo-provided module files ?
There are quite a few of those, and until you know what they're used for you really should leave them alone...

You could try remerging modutils, or recompiling the kernel, or...
The list is long.

Did you forget to
Code:
make modules_install

Have a look in /lib/modules

Well, in first place I want to say to you that I'm not some sort of stupid newbie user who doesn't want to learn! I've read almost ALL the documentation of Gentoo I've used Linux 4 years (3 years of slackware)... I'm only new to Gentoo and I've just got to learn it :) That's right yeah.
And I really don't like posting in forums because of people like YOU! I'd rather prefer google and my own mind...

And at the second place:

Yes i've got devfs compiled in my kernel
No I haven't got devpts compiled in my kernel
No I haven't messed with modules
And I've got already recompiled my kernel (first automaticly without configuring stuff and after that I compiled it again with my own modifications but there was to change in the errors)
I shall recompile modutils :)

However, thanks for your help

(herring: yes I did do that)

Re-compiling modutils didn't worked...
Btw, I'd forgot to say that the errors came AFTER I logged in. :)

More idea's?

I never said or implied that you were - I merely stated that, since you said you didn't understand how Gentoo's rc-system works, this would be a promising area for improvement.

Me too!
Oh wait, no I'm not new to Gentoo, but I do know that I'll be forever learning.

Erm... yeah?

I thought you said Google didn't help ?
But I can understand you preferring your own mind, yes... interesting.

Wow - is this because I supposedly "treated you in an unfair and newbie-like manner" ?
Because you're being pedantic now.

I posted those suggestions as precisely that - helpful suggestions that, judging from the lack of real info you gave about the problem - what you've done to investigate it, isolate it, whatever - I thought might set you on a possible path to investigate and remedy that.
It's that big black magic marker line between me guessing and you providing information.
(And the even bigger bucket of paint slapped between you working to solve your problem and me sheepishly supplying a solution)

roanm wrote:

I doubt that would be it, but you never know.

Also, I did not say you "messed with modules" - I said "the Gentoo-provided module files", among these are the rc. scripts for loading them, the /etc/conf.d dir for configuring them, the /etc/module*** files and directores for all sorts of creepy magic - mostly to do with the devfs and keeping everything up to date.

You're welcome.

Hm.. Okay, I reacted this way because you gave me sarcastic reactions. I'm not going to reply more pages of useless discussions (don't get this wrong).

Hm... For this reaction I've really have to read a english-dutch dictionary :)
