I updated fluxbox (actually not even intended) and found some quite nice features in 0.9.7, but I cannot find any tab-settings anymore! all tabs are gone - and since I used them permanently, especially for window-grouping, I really miss this feature. The ChangeLog of fluxbox just says that tabs are extended by some more features (like inline-tabs), but I got nothing! can someone please point me to the solution?

that might be because you still have your old configs...
back-up those configs, remove them, and re-run fluxbox, and I think that you will get some new options and stuff :-)

hey,

what version of fluxbox did you upgrade from? ... i went from the 0.1.1xx in portage to the 0.9.6 and found that the tabs are inline in the title bar... so if you drag one title bar to another, it will tab them together.

the tabs are not a little box on the top (or any side) of the window, but built in to the title bar.

i dont know if you knew this, but i figured it is worth mentioning...

map { $i++ while chop; push (@dune,$i); undef $i; } split /[eE]/;
map { print chr ${\(shift(@dune) + $_)}; } split /[DUNE]/,$japh;

thanks, primus! I was just too desperate searching for a config option instead of just trying a logical conclusio ;)

Yes its true that the tabs are now "inline"
This means that they are no longer a thing sticking out from the window but its a part of the titlebar.

Try middleclickdragging one titlebar (the top of the windows with its name and the iconizy/minimize/close-buttons) onto another window. Then look closely at the titlebar of that window. You will notice that there are atually two bars in one. On the left half you have the titlebar of you current window and on the right side you have the titlebar of the window you just dragged there. Try clicking on the right side and your other window will apear!

Understand?

What annoys me is that you can no longer right click on a tab and have the root menu popup so the application you select groups with that tab group.

fluxgen stated, that they will probably put the "old tabs" back in, after 1.0 or so. (yes, i've begged for it on my knees)

I prefer the new tab style because it frees up a little screen real estate, but like you, i miss the abillity right click on the tabs and automatically group new windows. Why couldn't they add that feature while using the current tab theme?
