Im having a fatal server error: Undefined Device "Nvidia" referenced by Screen "Screen 1"

fatal server error:
no screens found

What does this error refer to?

I would appreciate any advice,...

Read and edit /etc/X11/XF86Config.

REALLY read it - the driver and screen definitions are in there.

Since the fact you live nearby,.. I will ask my question in dutch:

Het Nvidia probleem is nu opgelost,..
maar wanneer ik startX herstart krijg ik er twee ander:
(EE) VGA(0): Virtual height (0) is too small for the hardware (min 1)
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

Fatal server error:
no screens found

Weet jij mss naar waar deze boodschappen refereren, iets dat ik moet modificeren in XF86Config?

That simply means that X is not configured correctly.

Take a look at the gentoo desktop guide for help on how to configure it:

Precies wattie zegt:
Het "scherm" wat je wilt gebruiken voor X is nie goed.

Lees *aandachtig* en zes keer als nodig het gedeelte onderaan het bestand, dat haalt de eerder gedefinieerde onderdelen bij elkaar en maakt er een X console (scherm, monitor, keyboard, muis) van.
Als de "display" entry niet EXACT gelijk is aan een van de gedefinieerde displays - nie werken nie.

Bijvoorbeeld, als je zou hebben:

Device = "Nvidia"

Maar je zou in het "screen" gedeelte verwijzen naar "nvidia" - dat gaat niet werken.

XF86Config is letterlijk en hoofdlettergevoelig.

En pleeease gebruik xf86config - ga het niet met de hand doen!

I had this problem when X was configured perfectly right.

After
# emerge nvidia-glx
it worked great.


Only if X is configured though.
