Contact the company and tell them it was one of those CD-ROMs that blows CDs to shit. I don't know if they even exist anymore but I remember hearing of some a year back I think |

Tehehehe, I still have mine...
On the other hand, if you have it installed under Linux, you don't even need the CD to play . Also, is it so bad to find a copy of the GOTY edition from the bargain bin? I can't imagine that this game still costs much, what with UT2k4 coming out soon. |

Yeah, but i had just taken it out of the cd-rom and it slipped out of my hand and rolled behind me, i didnt think anything about pushing my chair back to reach for it =(
Luckily i had just finished installing it, but im getting ready to build a new system and plan on wipping this installation out, so itll be gone again =( |

If you plan on only installing it on a linux system, it should be sufficient to burn the /usr/games/UnrealTournament directory to the root of a CD, and you _should_ still be able to install...
Worst case scenario: you install the binary without the data, and you copy the data yourself.
PS: On windows, you can also copy an existing install to a CD, and reïnstate it afterwards... don't forget to turn of read-only though...

interesting, ill have to give copying the directory a try.
Thanks for all replies and suggestions, I had only intended to vent about my stupidity, but the suggestions on how to salvage the game are definitly appreciated. |

But for some games, you do They (sadly) save info about savegames and other stuff like your serial in there, and won't start if the key doesn't exist. Nothing better as a fresh install _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates... Before you know it, it's empty... |
