I've just upgraded from Mandrake 9.1 to Gentoo, and have had horrendous problems with the built in touchpad.
When booting from the Gentoo Install CD, the system locked up during hardware detection, so I had to reboot with the nodetect option.
Installation then proceeded well, until I got to X, at which point I noticed that the built in touchpad would only work very occasionally.
Rebooting back into Mandrake and the problem remained giving the impression that something had reprogrammed the hardware.
I eventually and reluctantly resolved the problem by restoring the factory Windows XP and playing with the touchpad settings in control panel.
I guessing that the Gentoo hardware detect disabled the touchpad but I'm not going to repeat the excercise... |
