I'm having no errors at all, except I'm not getting sound.

I'm seeing that a few others have this same problem with nForce2 boards.

I'm using the gentoo-dev-sources package.

Just a sanity check - but I know that I was thrown for a loop when I discovered that I had to unmute and turn up my channels in 2.6 (no autosave script that I know of yet). Did you make sure to do that?

no autosave script? actually, 'alsactl store' is enough, and still, the alsasound script from alsa-utils works great, even with alsa builtin with no modules...

The rc scripts have been moved from alsa-driver to alsa-utils. If you emerge alsa-util 1.xx NOT 0.9x they will be copied to /etc/init.d/

Just be aware that the 1.x series is not stable in Portage yet (yarg). Thanks for the info though!

Another option is to copy the rc script from /usr/porta......./alsa-utils/files/ into init.d.
Today linus released Kernel 2.6.1 final it has the latest alsa 1.01 patch applied
