I am trying to merge 7 /etc/X11/ configuration files. I am at loss. Hear is an example of one
Code:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Server Settings
Name[ar]=إعدادات الخادم
Name[az]=Verici Qurğuları
Name[be]=Наладкі паслужніка
Name[bg]=Настройки на Сървър
Name[bn]=সার্ভারের বৈশিষ্ট্যসূচক মানসমূহ
Name[ca]=Configuració del servidor
Name[cs]=Nastavení serverů
Name[cy]=Gosodiadau y Gweinydd
Name[da]=Serverindstillinger
Name[de]=Server-Einstellungen
Name[el]=Ρυθμίσεις Συστήματος
Name[en_GB]=Server Settings
Name[es]=Opciones del servidor
Name[et]=Serveri sätted
Name[fi]=Palvelinasetukset
Name[fr]=Réglages du serveur
Name[he]=הגדרות שרת
Name[hi]=सर्वर की सेटिंग्स
Name[hu]=Kiszolgálóbeállítások
Name[id]=Setting Server
Name[is]=Þjónastillingar
Name[it]=Impostazioni del server
Name[ja]=サーバの設定
Name[ko]=서버 ì„¤ì •
Name[li]=Server-insjtèllinge
Name[lt]=Serverio nuostatos
Name[lv]=Servera Uzstādījumi

How do I know if I want the old or new one. Should I just go with the new file?

Generally speaking, you should accept the update unless you've changed the file. If it's something like fstab, then blindly accepting the updates *will* break your system, but for any file you haven't modified, accept the new version.

if you look at the file you see that it says many times the same thing but in different languages... as typos may occur, they get corrected in the newer versions...

nothing else to add to the post above mine :)
