My icons are very generic, and most of them look alike

Ok, my xchat has the same icon as gaim (im using kde, but this happens with gnome also) etc, and I'd really like to have them use an individual icon, also this is offtopic but in KDE how do I add something to the taskbar type thing, right next to the K (KDE start menu equivalent)? I think Aqua icons would be cool, but if you guys dont know much about Aqua, please do tell me how to get them to use their normal icons anyway

Sorry to bump but does anyone else have any ideas? would an icon pack work? If so, can anyone give me the link and tell me how to install it (tried to install an aqua one, but the directions werent very clear)
