greetings,
has anyone been able to get the sound in X-Chat to work with kde? many moons ago when i was on redhat 8 with the X-Chat 1.x.x series it used to beep on private messages etc. i know it's no big deal, but it's helpful for when i'm away from the pc and watching tv etc. and yes, i have enabled the 'beep on private messages' option in preferences.
my details are as follows:
kernel 2.6.0 - have ALSA compiled with oss emulation
kde - 3.1.4 - i use arts on startup, with sound i/o = oss (full duplexing)
X-Chat - 2.0.7
all my sounds in all other apps and games work fine, so i dont want to have to play with my alsa settings and break something. i just wonder that because this is a gnome application it might not be compatible with the kde sound scheme. also multiple sounds can play on my system without a problem so that isnt an issue
what would be even better if someone wrote a qt front end for x-chat...as the other kde irc programs don't quite cut it for me.
thoughts/ideas?? _________________ I might not have morals...but at least I have standards

yeah, I've been working on such a frontend recently.

It's a KDE frontend to xchat. xchat itself is quite modular; it's not coupled to GTK at all. This lets use all XChat prefs/scripts with KDE integration (systray, optional MDI (see kdevelop), dcop scripting, toolbar customization, etc.. )
Of course, it's not mature at all yet. _________________ what up |

I've got the same problem here, and in the xchat config file [ ~/.xchat ] i've edited the line
Code: | sound_command = artsplay |
and still cant get it to play..
Code: | sound_dir = /home/xemoka/.xchat2/sounds |
might be the problem as i dont even have a directory with that, maybe you need gnome for it to be able to recognise the default beep? _________________ #gentoo-glbt
